Odorfix Plus is Fragrance-free because
We are not in business to cover up odors.
Removing dog or cat urine from carpet,
concrete, upholstery, or clothing is a relatively easy task.
The key to successfully removing dog or cat
urine from carpet is treating the area with a quality bacterial product.
Using bacteria specifically designed to
consume urine is the only permanent solution in removing all traces of urine
embedded within carpet, concrete, clothing, or any water-safe material.
Reasons why you may have failed to remove
urine odors
"Ready-to-use enzyme
cleaners are diluted with water and have a relatively short
shelf life, as little as three months, depending on the
formulation."
Because ready-to-use enzyme
cleaners are diluted with water, they require the use of
preservatives, and many companies use harsh chemicals like
propylene glycol, a skin and eye irritant, and other neurotoxic
glycol ethers such as butyl cellosolve.
But you can avoid harsh
preservatives to a certain degree by purchasing enzyme
concentrates, which, because of their lower water content,
require fewer preservatives.
Do be aware that, as a general
rule, ready-to-use enzyme cleaners have a relatively short shelf
life, as little as three months, depending on the formulation
- Not using a high grade bacterial odor
remover
- Using a pre-mixed urine odor remover
that may have degraded over time
- Using a spray type odor remover that
only treats the surface of the carpet
- Not treating the area more than once
Removing dried cat urine from carpet. This
also applies to human and dog urine stains.
- Locate exactly where the urine odor is
emanating from. For best results, use a florescent black light in total
darkness. The stains will appear as a greenish hue.
- Mix 1 part (1 cup) Odorfix Plus to 10
parts (10 cups) water. The 16 oz. size of Odorfix Plus makes 5 quarts when
diluted according to instructions.
- For each stained area pour 1-2 cups of
the mixed solution onto the carpet. Allow the mixture to soak into the
carpet for 24 hours.
If the cat urine in the carpet is wet or
damp to the touch, remove the urine by placing paper towels over the stain
and pressing firmly with your feet to absorb as much as the urine from the
carpet. Repeat with dry paper towels until most of the urine has been
absorbed.
Then follow the instructions above (steps
1-3) on removing dried cat urine from carpet.
How do I find where the odors
are coming from?
Easy. You can get a
florescent black light,
ultraviolet light, at Wal-Mart or novelty store for about $10,
this will help you locate all the urine stains. The black
light, when used in the dark, will illuminate all the urine stained
areas - the stains will show up as a bright yellowish hue. You'll be amazed
at what you may find! An incandescent (light bulb) black
light does not work! Note: Even after the odors are eliminated using
enzymes, the yellowish hue will remain visible under a black
light.
On what surfaces will Odorfix work?
Odorfix works on any thing or surface so long
as the enzymatic solution comes into contact with the urine compounds.
Odorfix is not recommended for materials that can
discolor or warp, e.g., oriental rugs, fine upholstery, leather, hardwood
floors, etc., which can be permanently damaged due to discoloration and or
water damaged.
How much Odorfix Plus will I
need?
The 16 oz. size makes 5 quarts, use 1 cup of solution to the soiled area.
Treat each area at least 3 times to completely eliminate the urine compounds
so that your pet will not smell any residual urine.
Will Odorfix work on chairs,
sofas, or mattresses?
Urine can dispersed
throughout the foam and can be very difficult to reach and treat
successfully. This will require multiple treatments and patience.
Can Odorfix be used to treat
large areas, such as whole rooms?
We do not recommend treating large
areas, such as a whole room. It is only recommended for localized spot
treatments. Generally, if a large area is involved the amount of damage due
to urine saturation can only be eliminated by the removal and replacement of
the carpet and sub floor.
Will Odorfix remove urine odors from
the padding underneath the carpet or will I have to replace the padding?
Odorfix will even remove the odors
from the padding without having to remove the carpet. When Odorfix's enzyme
solution is poured onto the carpet, the solution will saturate the carpet,
penetrating the carpet padding, and the sub floor - just as the urine did.
By saturating the carpet, the solution comes into contact with all the urine
residue, eliminating the urine odors. There is no
requirement to lift the carpet up to expose the padding, besides, the carpet
itself has urine stains.
Can Odorfix be used in carpet
cleaning machines?
Dilute
Odorfix Plus to a ratio of 1 part to 20 parts water and add to the steam
cleaner as a pretreatment. Then treat each area according to instructions.
Where can I buy Odorfix?
Odorfix can only be purchased
through our website. By using the internet as the point of purchase,
expenses are kept to a minimum and the saving can be passed on to the
consumer.
Will Odorfix work on hardwood floors?
Odorfix is not recommended for
finished or unfinished wood floors due to possible discoloration and
swelling. If you are going to treat finished floors, pour a small quantity
of Odorfix Plus on the area and cover with a towel. Repeat the application
3-5 times.
Will Odorfix work on sub
floors?
Yes. Odorfix works on any
surface or material the solution comes into contact with. The solution must
be allowed to penetrate into the wood pores just as the urine had
penetrated. This is only recommended for small, localized spot treatments.
Will Odorfix remove urine odors from
concrete?
Yes. Odorfix works on any surface or material the
solution comes into contact with. Concrete is porous just like wood. Just
pour the solution on the concrete and let dry.
Will Odorfix remove urine
odors from yards, dirt, etc?
Yes. Simply sprinkle Odorfix on
suspected areas and wet the area with a garden hose. Saturate the area
daily, or at least 5 times to ensure the enzymes have dissolved completely.
Can Odorfix be used in
kennels?
Yes, but do not allow animals to come into
contact with the liquid solution. Let the area dry prior to introducing the
animal back in the area.
How can I keep my cat from urinating on
the carpet?
Cats tend to urinate wherever there
are "cat" urine odors present. By removing the urine odors from the carpet
and by providing a clean litter box, you can change your cats behavioral
habits. Also, if you have more than one cat, some cats prefer to have their
own litter box.
